My 10th Blog!!

I hope all of you had a great Christmas Weekend and had way to much to eat!  What would Christmas be if you did not?

Teresa had Friday off so we started the weekend early.  We took a trip late Friday afternoon to Inorbit Mall for a late lunch/early dinner at our favorite spot at News Cafe.  I tried out their Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, which was ok but nowhere as nice as in the USA.  Teresa had the vegetarian version of the Philly.  We got some snacks and dvd's for the weekend, made bed on our new Sofa bed and spend the night in the living room watching movies till late.

We slept late on Christmas morning, called the family and got ready for our Christmas lunch at La Cantina in the Novotel.  The lunch was supposed to start at 11:30, we arrived there at 11:50 to find out it will only start at 12:00 and that they are fully booked and did not have a table for us.  Being disappointed initially we decided to have lunch in the main restaurant of the hotel, The Square.  Something that turned out great, the food was excellent, loved the Turkey, smoked turkey and all the rest that went with it.  The best part of it all was that they were half the price than what La Cantina was for their special Christmas lunch.  We ended up paying Rs1480 (R246.60 or $32.80) for the two of us where at La Cantina it would have been Rs1500 (R250 or $33.30) per person.  The rest of our Christmas Saturday was relaxing, making a couple more phone calls and spending some time watching movies.  Needless to say, we did not eat anything the rest of the day.

Sunday we made up for all the eating and laziness.  Our driver picked us up at 10:00 and took us to Golconda Fort.  You can read more about it HERE.  We got a tour guide, after a big discussion with his "manager" about the price.  They wanted to charge us Rs500 per person for the tour and we ended up paying Rs600 for the two of us.  I still think it was too much, that is after we paid Rs100 per person entrance fee, the fee for locals is Rs5.

The Fort was interesting but unfortunately not very well looked after and maintained.  Lots of littering and people making fire anywhere they liked, the gardens, if you can call it that not maintained at all.  The good part of the outing was the exercise, I have not climbed so many steps in a long time.

I hoped you found my 10th blog entry interesting.  Next week you will hear all about our trip to Singapore which we can not wait for.  We will fly late Wednesday evening to Singapore and will be back Sunday, January 2nd.

A Happy New Year to you all and we hope that 2011 will be a wonderful year for all.
